The usage and meaning of "button" has gone through quite a few changes throughout history; from currency to ornamentation to fasteners for clothing... in the modern mechanical age it has become something you PUSH to activate machinery...in essence, a way to bring something from one binary state (inaction) into another (action), on/off, etc.

Our communication online is made possible by a complex binary system of buttons we call a KEY-board. Curious.
